Two Indian brothers behead sister over an affair

Two brothers, Nanhe and Gul Hasan have been accused of beheading their 17-year-old sister, Phool Jehan, for having an affair with her cousin. The incident happened in the village of Bahmani Chowki, and villagers watches as they paraded her severed head through the village chanting 'This is what happens as punishment for having an affair'.
Officer Rajesh Singh said that at least a dozen people watched as the sister was dragged out of the house, beaten and beheaded, but that they did not inform the police. Police officers from Paraur in Shahjahanpur district have been unable to find the two brothers.
As India modernizes rapidly, it finds itself in the midst of huge social turmoil as young people challenge accepted social norms.
As more people attempt to break from tradition, they face backlash, often violent, especially in rural areas.
India is also considered one of the harshest places in the world for women, with female infanticide and child marriage still common.
