Woman loses money hidden in toaster oven when husband returns appliance to store

58-year-old Nancy Brown told police she got burned when $5,600 went missing from her secret stash i.e. her toaster oven. It was reported that Nancy who stored the money in envelopes inside her Black and Decker toaster oven, lost all of it when her husband returned the boxed appliance to a Target store in East Harlem. According to the report on DailyNews, when a panicked Brown went to the store on 117th St. near the FDR Drive to get her cash back, employees told her they had given it to her son when he came to claim it. However, Brown doesn’t have a son!
Police are said to be reviewing footage of the cash being returned, which they are investigating as a grand larceny.
