Mom charged with son’s murder after remains was found in her car, over ten years after

A Virginia woman whose son's remains were found in her car more than 10 years after he was last seen alive has been charged with murder in his death. Court documents indicate Tonya Slaton of Richmond was indicted this month in Hampton Circuit Court on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of her son, Quincy Jamar Davis. The indictment alleges Slaton killed Davis between July 24, 2004, and July 24, 2005. Quincy's remains were found stuffed in the back of Slaton's Mustang during a June traffic stop. A trooper impounding the vehicle noticed a black trash bag wrapped in duct tape in the trunk. The bag reeked.
Slaton threw some clothes on top of it and said more garments were inside, authorities say. The badly decomposed body was found inside. The teen was last seen alive in 2004, when he was a 7th grader at Virginia Beach Middle School. Quincy would have been 14 or 15 years old at the time, the Virginian-Pilot reports. His cause of death has not been determined. Davis was never reported missing by his mom or anyone else in his family, police say. Slaton's arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25.
