Nike call it quits with Manny Pacquiao after likening gays to animal

Manny Pacquiao’s comments about homosexual relationships has cost him his endorsement deal with Nike. The apparel giant ended its business pact Wednesday with the world-famous boxer, according to ESPN, after Pacquiao said people in same-sex relationships were “worse than animals.”
“We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” a Nike spokeswoman said in a statement to the Daily News. “Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao.”
Pacquiao, 37, made the incendiary comments in a television interview that ran Monday in his native Philippines. He’s currently a member of the House of Representatives and is running for the country’s senate.
