2.5 tonnes of drugs destroyed in Dubai


The Dubai Public Prosecution destroyed about 2.5 tonnes of drugs (cocaine, heroin, opium, hashish and narcotic pills) in cases in which final verdicts were issued, the head of the committee charged with the disposal of seized and found goods at the public prosecution, Advocate -General Hamad Jum-aa Al Khalafi, has revealed. The public prosecution asserted the drugs which had been seized by the Dubai Police and later ordered confiscated by the judiciary authorities, were recently assembled and had to be destroyed. The step came after the decision was adopted by the said committee. The drugs were destroyed after the assessment and weighing process. The destruction was carried out by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), in coordination with the anti-narcotics division of the Dubai Police, public prosecution, the courts' security point and EGA officials.
