McDonald's apologizes for making marijuana themed billboard
McDonald’s has apologized over a marijuana themed billboard advertisement that promoted their burritos. While some found the ad funny, others did not. Some people pointed out that the placement of the advertisement was strategic. The billboard was placed in Raton, New Mexico, which is near the New Mexico and Colorado state line. Recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado, but it is not in legal in New Mexico. The billboard features a photo of a chili-stuffed burrito with the words “Usually, when you roll something this good, it’s illegal.”
McDonald's corporate headquarters said that they did not approve the billboard that was put up by the franchise. The billboard “does not meet our standards and is being taken down,” they said. However, they did not say when it will be removed.
