Milan train crash leaves at least 3 dead and more than 100 injured after rush-hour horror derailment


At least three people have been killed and more than 100 injured after a train derailed during rush hour in northern Italy this morning. Two cars came off the rails in the horror crash, which occurred at the Pioltello Limito station on the outskirts of Milan. A fire bridge official said between three and five people had lost their lives. There are fears the death toll could rise. A further 10 victims have been left seriously injured following the derailment. It is believed more than 100 have been wounded in total.



Passengers are still trapped in one of the carriages and rescuers are trying to dislodge the trapped passengers. Workers were forced to climb through cars to help terrified passengers escape following the derailment. Some victims were left covered in blood, with varying injuries. The Trenord train was heading into Milan’s Garibaldi station when it derailed at rush hour. It was full at the time of the crash, an official has said. Hundreds of people were on the train when it derailed.
