Argentina's Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona in Sistine Chapel-style tribute

A football club in Argentina have shelled out to create a spectacular customised version of the famous Sistine Chapel ceiling, with Diego Maradona in the role of God and Lionel Messi as Adam. Club Sportivo Pereyra in Buenos Aires spent roughly $20,000 on the enormous fresco, which covers the ceiling of their sports hall and was painted by local artist Santiago Barbeito.

Alongside Maradona and Messi, the likes of Juan Roman Riquelme, Gabriel Batistuta, Mario Kempes and Sergio Aguero fill in as angels.
The mural, a brilliant pastiche of Michelangelo's original, was paid for through donations and is designed to inspire the young kids who play beneath it, knowing they do so in the presence of such Argentinian football luminaries.
"We were all kids and the ones that loved football wanted to be like our idols," Sebastian Garcia told Reuters.
"When a move doesn't come off you look to the heavens, and when you ask God for a helping hand you have so many of them to choose from on this ceiling."
