Parents arrested after it took them 14 hours to remember they left their 2-year-old at a park

Florida authorities have detained the parents of a toddler girl who was left in park overnight for 14 hours, charging both with neglect of a child. Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to calls of the two-year-old girl walking by herself in Haverhill Park on Friday night.
According to the department's Facebook page, the little girl was found wearing a pink short-sleeve shirt, white and gold tutu and clear plastic shoes. Initial searches for the girl's parents proved difficult as authorities canvassed the area, made loud announcements and tried to do a reverse 911 call.

They placed the child in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families while they searched for the girl's parents. The department released an update on Saturday at 11.40am stating that the girl's parents had been found.
Responding to the 5000 block of Stacy Street, police apprehended 27-year-old Jolanda Larose Alexandre and 34-year-old Makenson Alexandre. Both told authorities that they were not aware that their child had been missing or that they had left their child at around 7pm. Seven more children were found at the parents' residence. They have since been removed by DCF.
