Travellers advised to arrive early for flights as Sri Lanka puts nationwide curfew in place after deadly bombings

More than 200 people were killed and hundreds more wounded in eight bomb blasts that rocked churches and luxury hotels in or near Sri Lanka's capital on Easter Sunday — the deadliest violence the South Asian island country has seen since a bloody civil war ended a decade ago.
While a nationwide 06:00 to 18:00 curfew has been put in place, travel continues from Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport  - with security measures increased - and travellers being told to reach the airport at least four hours prior to departure time.

The UK government updated its travel advisory saying, "The Sri Lankan authorities have confirmed that, if you need to catch a flight from Colombo airport, you are able to travel to the airport provided you have both passport and ticket valid for travel that day. They have also confirmed that arrangements have been put in place for arriving passengers.
Overall the country has been setback considerably regarding tourism following the recent turmoil - as the US, UAE and Canadian governments have also updated their travel advisories, following the bombings.
