World's Ugliest Animal

The blobfish (Psychrolutes marcidus) is an extremely rare deep sea fish, found off the coasts of mainland Australia and Tasmania, as well as the waters of New Zealand. They have no skeleton and no real muscles as they are simply made up of jelly-like substance. Because of their low density flesh, the blobfish's shape is very different when out of water.
The blobfish was voted the "World's Ugliest Animal" in September 2013. The initiative was to draw attention to some of the world's endangered species that are close to extinction.
