Man dies after consuming venom from decapitated snake

In an attempt to boost his immune system against toxins, a 53-year-old man have died after consuming venom from a decapitated snake. The man, identified as Musah Dzikpor, a painter in the eastern border town of Aflao, Ghana, was said to have found the snake in a friend's farm. Apparently, snake heads are a valuable commodity for traditional medicine in the region, so nearby villagers had gathered and began arguing over who should take possession of the snake. According to Ghana News Agency,  Dzikpor, finally took possession of the snake's head and attempted to suck the venom directly from it but unfortunately, it is believed that the animal twitched and sung its fangs into his tongue. Witnesses noted that his skin color began to change quickly and he died 30minutes later while being transported to the hospital.

According to Medical Daily, venom from certain breeds of snake has been found to have anti-bacterial properties as toxins extracted from venom have been used to treat Alzheimers and Parkinson's.

  1. Daring moves can be stupid and fatal though. Wonder how well ingesting the venom (without getting bitten! ) protects one from future effects of a bite. Obviously, he hadn't been ingesting enough prior to this.
